Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 September 2026
These terms apply to repair work carried out by Precision Electronics Repair, Watford, Hertfordshire. By sending us an item or booking a repair, you agree to them. Nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
1. What we accept
We repair phones, tablets, laptops, computers, games consoles, audio equipment, televisions up to 32 inches, and general circuit boards and small electronics.
We do not currently accept medical devices, vehicle safety systems (such as airbags or ABS), gas appliances or boiler controls, or any other safety-critical equipment. We may decline any item at our discretion.
2. Diagnosis and fees
| Diagnostic fee | £30 |
| If you go ahead with the repair | deducted from the price |
| If you decline the quoted repair | £30 applies |
| If we cannot repair the item | all fees waived |
Where we cannot repair an item, we will return it to you and explain what we found and what we tested.
3. Quotes and approval
We diagnose the fault before quoting. No chargeable repair work begins until you have approved the price. If we find that the repair will cost more than the amount you approved, we will contact you before continuing.
Parts are charged separately where they are needed, and are included in the price we quote you.
4. Your data and accessories
Please back up your data before sending or bringing in your device, and remove any memory cards, SIM cards, cases or accessories you do not want to send. We are not able to guarantee that data on a device will survive a repair, and some repairs cannot be carried out without risk to stored data.
Please tell us on your booking form about anything you do send with the item, so we can return it.
5. The nature of board-level repair
We repair items that are already faulty, and often already damaged. We take great care, document each stage with photographs, and only carry out work we believe has a reasonable chance of success. Even so, some faults cannot be repaired, and some items are beyond economical repair.
Where an item has previous damage, corrosion or earlier repair attempts by others, the chance of success is lower. We will tell you if we see this.
6. Warranty
- Our workmanship: guaranteed for as long as you own the device.
- Replacement parts: 6 months.
- The warranty covers the specific repair we carried out. It does not cover the rest of the device, new or unrelated faults, accidental or physical damage, liquid damage after the repair, or work carried out by anyone else afterwards.
- If you return an item under warranty and the fault turns out not to be covered, our £30 diagnostic fee applies.
- The warranty applies to you as the original customer and is not transferable.
7. Sending items to us
You are responsible for packaging your item securely and for the cost of sending it to us. We strongly recommend a tracked and insured service, as we cannot be responsible for items damaged or lost in transit before they reach us.
We will confirm receipt and record the condition of your item, with photographs, as soon as it arrives.
8. Payment and return
Payment is due once the repair is complete, before the item is returned or collected. Return postage is charged at cost and will be included in your quote.
9. Uncollected items
If your item is not collected or paid for, we will contact you using every method you have given us:
| Contact | When |
|---|---|
| Your item is ready | Day 0 |
| Reminder | Day 7 |
| Reminder | Day 28 |
| Reminder | Day 60 |
| Final notice before sale | Day 76 |
| Item listed for auction | Day 90 |
Items listed at auction on day 90 are sold to the highest bidder after 7 days. Sale proceeds are applied to what you owe us. If the sale raises more than you owe, the difference is yours and we will return it to you when you contact us.
10. Our liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss of data, for faults that already existed, or for the general condition of an item that was faulty when it reached us.
We do not limit our liability in any way that the law does not allow, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with a repair, contact us first at info@precisionelectronicsrepair.co.uk or on 07522 124273. We will do our best to put it right.
12. Your information
How we handle your personal information is set out in our privacy notice.
